Community Events Calendar The events listed in this calendar consist of classes, or other events related to pregnancy, birth, or families. These events are sponsored or coordinated by CTBN members and may have a fee. Listing Your Events Members of the Central Texas Birth Network are invited to add Community Calendar and Support Group Meetings. Any person or organization hosting or sponsoring a training workshop ANYwhere in Texas is welcome to submit information for their event. Relevant workshops include those that train participants to support women during the prenatal and early postpartum periods such as doula and childbirth educator trainings, or classes for birth or medical professionals on subjects such as breastfeeding, infant massage, pregnancy massage, aromatherapy, etc. All events can be submitted here. Bradley Method® Natural Childbirth Classes - 12-week series Tuesdays beginning September 9th, 7:00pm-9:00pm Location: Southwest Austin Instructor: Bridget Brown, AAHCC Cost: $250 Birth, a play by Karen Brody Saturday, September 20th, Location: The City Theatre, 3823 Airport Blvd, Austin Cost: $22 Each year, BOLD in Austin stages the play Birth, written by BOLD founder Karen Brody. It is based on over one hundred interviews conducted with mothers across America who gave birth between 2000-2004. It tells the true stories of eight women painting a portrait of how low-risk, educated women are giving birth in America today. Moving between first-person monologues, some dialogue, and the voices these women heard on the day they gave birth, Birth confronts, what City Lights Theater Company has called, "The naked truth about childbirth in America." The play will be followed by a talkback session with three community birth professionals. October, 2008
