Chan McDermott 
 


Chan McDermott has been working in women’s health, public health and childbirth since 1990. Her work experience has included the private, non-profit and public sectors. Chan has been teaching Bradley Method Childbirth classes since 1992 and is also trained as a doula and lactation educator.

 

Chan has worked at the Texas Department of State Health Services, formerly the Texas Department of Health, since 1992, holding various positions relating to maternal and child health. Chan has a master’s degree in public affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin and degrees in journalism, psychology and English from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

 

She has three children, Donovan, 16; Mariel, 12; and Jessamyn, 9. All three were born with midwives. Two were water births and one is a land baby!
