Central Texas Birth Network Membership

The Central Texas Birth Network’s goal is to educate families and fellow birth professionals about mother-friendly birth practices and provide evidence-based information to help women make informed choices through pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond. By building a strong and collaborative community of practitioners, the CTBN will be an agent of positive change for advocating normal birth in Central Texas.

Becoming a Member

Membership is open to professionals and non-profit organizations who serve pregnant women and families. All members of the Central Texas Birth Network endorse the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative (MFCI), created by the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS). After reading the MFCI, applicants must include a completed endorsement form with their application.

See our Membership Levels to decide which one is right for you.

How will membership benefit me?

As a member of the Central Texas Birth Network, you receive:
  • A listing in our provider directory on our website
  • Group advertising in Parent:Wise magazine
  • Links to your website
  • Discounts to CTBN sponsored events
  • Networking opportunities with other members
  • Membership in the CTBN Yahoo Group, where you can receive business support
        from your peers.
  • Free advertising of your workshops and speaking events on our calendar
  • Free inclusion of your public, family-friendly workshops in Parent:Wise magazine's
        calendar.

In the near future, the CTBN will host member-led community events such as monthly support groups to expecting and new parents, which will give you more exposure as a practitioner. We also envision group marketing and advocacy efforts, networking opportunities, regular support meetings for childbirth professionals, and business assistance for new childbirth professionals.

Besides membership fees, what else is expected of me?

The success of the Central Texas Birth Network depends on the active involvement of its members. While we greatly appreciate your membership dues, which pays for group advertising efforts and administrative fees, we highly encourage our members to volunteer their services in one or more of the following ways:
  • Host a community educational event. This not only benefits the community, it is an
excellent form of free marketing for you.
  • Volunteering to work a shift at a family-friendly trade show. Get out there and meet
people in our community and fellow members.
  • Offer a training to other birth professionals. Expand the minds of your fellow
practitioners with your expertise with an informational and/or experiential
workshop. Gain referrals and an additional source of income from your classes.
  • Facilitate a Birth Circle.
  • Join or head a committee in our organization. Help CTBN grow!

Who can apply for membership?

The Central Texas Birth Network welcomes trained, certified, or licensed professionals who serve expecting mothers, new mothers and families. Non-profit organizations are also encouraged to join. The list of categories in the Provider Directory may not be a complete listing, as unfilled categories are hidden from view on this website. See the full list of categories on our application. If your profession is not listed, select "other", and we will consider adding it to the directory.

When can I apply for membership?

The membership year for the Central Texas Birth Network is from September through August of the following year. You may join the group at any time during the year, but renewal for all members takes place in August for the following membership year. Membership rates are not pro-rated for those who join mid-year.

May I list myself in multiple categories?

You may list yourself in more than one category, as long as you are trained, certified, or licensed in each category. If you own a business and sell multiple products or are a distributor of a relevant product line for moms and babies, you may list your business in multiple categories.

How will I be listed in the category?

Providers will have their names listed alphabetically by geographical region.

Listings will include:
  • Provider's name and certifications
  • Business name
  • Business address (addresses of doulas and cbes will not be listed)
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Link to your website

All doulas in or near Austin will be listed alphabetically by geographical region. In your application, please indicate the geographical areas you are willing to travel to.

For Central Texas businesses that manufacture products, please indicate local stores that carry your products, and those locations will be included with your listing.

If you would like to become a member, please complete our online application form or print out an application form and fax, email or mail it in to the CTBN. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Birth Wisdom

The true sense of community lies in understanding our interconnectedness and acting from a sense of relatedness. It is a challenge. Let's begin at the beginning. That is where we can start to reweave the sacred web of life so that it once again becomes whole.
